First, I'll say that of course people can do this stuff themselves. In fact, most small business owners do. And, to be fair, some not only love managing their own blog and social media (and writing their own website copy and other marketing materials), some are genuinely great at it. To them, I say more power to you! It's great that you have that talent and are able to put it to good use in your business.
Unfortunately, many people who are handling their own copywriting and content marketing aren't doing so great. Surf the web for 10 minutes and I guarantee you'll find way more small business websites with terribly copy than with copy that's good, let alone great. Check out how many blogs are gathering dust. See how many social media accounts are either misused or abandoned altogether.
I created Firebrand Messaging to serve the people who prefer to outsource these things. Whether they don't have the skill, the time or the inclination, they're willing to invest in their online presence and to engage someone else to take it off their plate.
Most of us utilize outsourcing in one form or another, professionally and/or personally. I think the concept of outsourcing applies to three main categories:
- People/businesses who have specific knowledge/credentials (attorneys, accountants) or equipment/resources (dry cleaners, exterminators) that we do not.
- People/businesses who handle tasks we'd find unappealing or burdensome (housecleaners, landscapers, waxers)
Often, there's a fair amount of overlap between these two categories. I'd probably put what Firebrand Messaging offers squarely in the middle - we're great at what we do, and we give our clients back their time to focus on tasks they actually enjoy. We're a fantastic resource to people who choose to utilize our services.
And for those who don't? That's completely fine - there are always going to people who, for one reason or another, toil over their own taxes, cut their own hair, and would rather die than give up money to someone for doing something they could have managed themselves. Those folks are probably never going to be interested in paying someone else for something like a blog.
But for those on the cusp - you're tired of doing the work yourself, you're tired of feeling guilty about not keeping up, and you're ready for an online presence that rocks - we're ready to jump in. Please give us a shout anytime.
