In my work as a business coach, I often hear my clients lament the fact that they never know what to say in a blog post or on their work-related social media accounts. They feel a permanent sense of writer's block, or nothing feels important enough to justify promoting (more on that in a future post!). Just as often, I hear them saying that they enjoy writing, but they just don't have the time with everything else that's on their plate. Still others tell me that they aren't yet convinced of the value of blogging and social media, since it hasn't resulted in an immediate jump in inquiries or sales - and face it, when we don't perceive something as a worthwhile investment of time, it's even easier to procrastinate about doing it.
Um, what? I own a high-end DJ service myself, and I'd be mortified if someone took my money and promoted my business that way.
In the case of the non-wedding specific blogging services, they seemed to fall into one of two categories: either completely generic and "corporate" sounding (packed with keywords, and very little emphasis on providing valuable content in an authentic, natural way), or prohibitively expensive ($100-200 for one blog post? Can you afford that? I can't!).
Then there was the issue of how they handled social media. The few companies I found that offer third-party social media posting seemed to only be set to "send." They'll broadcast your message out to the abyss that is the Internet, but they're not there to handle the response. No interaction with fans and followers, no effort to support others' posts with likes and comments. That misses the point entirely, in my opinion.
Of course, seeing a great business concept handled poorly is like catnip to me - I couldn't wait to do something better. (I share a little bit about how I did the same thing with my DJ company here.) Thus, Firebrand Messaging was born.
We're going to be doing things very differently from the other companies on the social marketing landscape. We consider ourselves your partner in getting your message out there, in a way that really sounds like you. After all, if you haven't guessed already, having an authentic voice as part of your brand is super important to me. We also value live interaction and engagement, and include that as part of all of our social media packages.
I hope you'll take a few minutes to wander around the website - check out our packages and rates, our frequently asked questions, and then get in touch if you think we can help. And if you're not currently in the market for a blogging or social media service, please keep an eye on our blog anyway, and follow us on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest and LinkedIn, for now) - we'll be sharing lots of great resources and advice to DIY your blog and social media. We believe in their importance just that much.
Until next time, friends!
